Tougher Sentences for Animal Cruelty Print E-mail

Animal Cruelty

For some vile reason many people worldwide have no second thought about torturing animals. It seems they believe the life of an animal has little to no worth and its suffering will result in little or no consequence. Well, all this is changing in Australia thanks to an organisation known as BLEATS.

The release of a Koala (named Frodo) into the wild this week, who was shot 15 times, as well as the story which surfaced yesterday about a horrifically mutilated stingray, adds fuel to the fight against animal cruelty and tougher sentencing.

What is Global Warming? Print E-mail

Global WarmingGlaciers are melting, sea levels are rising, cloud forests are drying, and wildlife is scrambling to keep pace. It's becoming clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. Called greenhouse gases, their levels are higher now than in the last 650,000 years.

We call the result global warming, but it is causing a set of changes to the Earth's climate, or long-term weather patterns, that varies from place to place. As the Earth spins each day, the new heat swirls with it, picking up moisture over the oceans, rising here, settling there. It's changing the rhythms of climate that all living things have come to rely upon.

Baby seals slaughtered off the coast of Canada Print E-mail

Baby seals slaughtered

The annual Canadian seal hunt continues despite the decades of world outrage and protest.

This barbaric commercial hunt which takes place this month, is the largest slaughter of marine mammals on earth and sadly targets infant seals, all between 2 and 12 weeks old. You can help by supporting HSI, who are on the ground in Canada, and their work in saving baby seals from slaughter. Their work is heart-breaking but absolutely crucial.

Thankfully HSI continue to document this atrocious cruelty to expose it to the world, and are thus helping to end the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent baby seals.

Moon Bear Do you agree with majestic Moon Bears suffering years on horrific of bile farms for patients using TCM to cure impotency, among other things?

There are many non profit organisations working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds. This means, they are working to get your attention and your money, for causes they believe in and want you to stand up and take action for; save the waves, the beaches, rainforests, whales, the dolphins, polar bears, seals, hell, even caged chickens and street dogs.

How can we choose which cause/s to support? More importantly, what will happen to our planet if we don't support them, and choose to just shun them altogether?

Save the Orangutan from deadly Palm Oil Print E-mail

Baby Orangutan

Palm oil is used in many of the products we love but comes at a deadly cost to the magnificent creature otherwise known as the ‘red ape’.

The planet’s remaining orangutans desperately need our help - now more than ever!

Time is running out fast for these complex and highly intelligent creatures. Populations have sadly shown marked decline in recent years as a direct result of the logging of the forests and palm oil plantations. With only one out of six orphans lucky enough to be rescued, there are notably nearly 1000 orphaned orangutans living in cages and rehabilitation and rescue centres across Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea, whilst illegal logging, drought and fires continue to destroy their habitat at an alarming rate.
