El Salvador - Central America Surf
El Salvador is situated in Central America between Honduras and Guatemala and neighboring countries of different is just bathed in the Pacific Ocean. The country's population is around 5.8 millions of people. The Story of El Salvador was marked by a long period of civil war that began in 1980 and ended in 1992 with a peace agreement between the military dictators supported by the United States because they came in power over the years. Backed by the Soviet Union were 12 years of war that has generated a number approximately 60 000 people dead. The Free Surfer Diego Belens Barreto it was in El Salvador in April of 2009 and below he will be telling us some of the things that marked the period when he was there and how are the waves and beaches.
Check out some photos of El Salvador below:
During the time I’ve been in El Salvador I noticed that the apparently still reflects problems caused by the long period of war that has gone through. The point that caught my attention was seeing a large’ numbers of civilians carrying guns without any instruction or training to learn how to properly use a gun. The wave season in El Salvador is usually from April to September, but this does not mean that there are no good waves out of this period.
El Salvador is a veritable paradise of Rights and most of them with the same characteristics; rock bottom, hot water, perfect and long waves. The region of La Liberta is the most famous for surf and you can find famous peaks such as Punta Roca, Sunzal, La Bocon. When the swell goes from eight feet most surfers go down to the south of the country on a peak called El Cuco. Throughout the period that was there, came several swells and I took some of the best waves in my life, but at the end of my trip, I ended up cutting the foot and I got an infection caused by a bacterium of volcanic origin, which ended up in anticipation of my trip back to Brazil. I would like to say thanks to Spot Shot team who’s provide the opportunity to be talking a little about this great spot (El Salvador) and also showing some of my photos taken in the region of good waves and I would also like to thank Juan Carlos for the place all his attention throughout the trip.
Now I am living on the Gold Coast in Australia and preparing to catch some great waves on the Australian coast and as soon as I can I want to realize the Indonesia dreams.
